The Waiting is the Hardest Part.

Band Aid 30. Do They Know It's Christmas?

Band Aid is a charity supergroup featuring mainly British and Irish musicians and recording artists. It was founded in 1984 byBob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for anti-poverty efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for the Christmas market that year

Band Aid 30 is the 2014 incarnation of the charity supergroup Band Aid. The group was announced on 10 November 2014 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, with Geldof stating that he took the step after the United Nations had contacted him, saying help was urgently needed to prevent the 2014 Ebola crisis in Western Africa spreading throughout the world. As in previous incarnations, the group covered the track "Do They Know It's Christmas?", written in 1984 by Geldof and Ure, this time to raise money towards the Ebola crisis in Western Africa.

                                                 "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

[One Direction:]
It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid

[Ed Sheeran:]
At Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade

[Rita Ora:]
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy

[Sam Smith:]
Throw your arms around the world at Christmas time

[Paloma Faith:]
But say a prayer and pray for the other ones

[Emeli Sandé:]
At Christmas time it's hard but while you’re having fun

[Guy Garvey:]
There’s a world outside your window and it’s a world of dread and fear

[Dan Smith:]
Where a kiss of love can kill you

[Angelique Kidjo:]
Where there’s death in every tear

[Chris Martin:]
And the Christmas bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom

[Bono:]
Well, tonight we’re reaching out and touching you

[Seal:]
Bring peace and joy this Christmas to West Africa

[Ellie Goulding:]
A song of hope where there’s no hope tonight

[Sinéad O'Connor:]
Why is comfort to be feared, why is to touch to be scared?

[Bono:]
How can they know it’s Christmas time at all?

[One Direction:]
Here’s to you

[Olly Murs:]
Raise a glass to everyone

[Bastille:]
Here’s to them
[Sam Smith:]
And all there is to come
[Rita Ora:]
Can they know it’s Christmas time at all?

[All:]
Heal the world
Let them know it’s Christmas time again

Heal the world
Let them know it’s Christmas time again

Heal the world
Let them know it’s Christmas time again

Heal the world
Let them know it’s Christmas time again

Heal the world
Let them know it’s Christmas time again

    Superlatives in Real Life

(CNN) -- One stands as tall as a red British phone booth. The other is the height of six stacked cans of baked beans.
On Thursday, for the first time, the man with the tallest recorded height in the world and the shortest man in the world met at an event in London, where they posed for photos and stretched for an awkward handshake.
    AWKARD = extraño, raro
    HANDSHAKE = apretón de manos
The occasion was the 10th annual Guinness World Records Day, which celebrates record-setting achievements around the globe. The Guinness folks flew the two men, Sultan Kosen of Turkey and Chandra Bahadur Dangi of Nepal, to London for the unique photo op.
    ACHIEVEMENT = logro
Kosen, 31, is a part-time farmer who measures 8 feet, 3 inches tall and can reach a basketball hoop without jumping. He became the world's tallest living man in 2009, overtaking China's Xi Shun, who stood a mere 7 feet 9 inches.
Dangi, 74, is just 21½ inches tall and is the shortest adult human ever verified by Guinness World Records. A weaver who also helps look after buffaloes and cows in his remote village of Reemkholi, he weighs just 32 pounds.
"To be able to finally meet Chandra after all this time is amazing," Kosen said at the event. "Even though he is short and I am tall, we have had similar struggles throughout our lives, and when I look into Chandra's eyes, I can see he's a good man."

    STRUGGLE = lucha, pelea

CNN World: Spanish nurse's assistant leaves hospital after beating Ebola

(CNN) -- A Spanish nurse's assistant who left the hospital Wednesday after beating Ebola said she was still weak but gave thanks to God and the health workers who cared for her that she was still alive.
Looking frail but happy, Teresa Romero Ramos was greeted by cheers as she spoke to journalists, flanked by her husband, Javier Limon.

Romero, who described her recovery as a "miracle" from God, said she was ready to do whatever she could to help others infected with Ebola.
And she indicated that she still doesn't know how she contracted the virus.
"I don't know what went wrong. I don't even know if anything went wrong. All I know is that I hold no resentment, but if getting this disease serves a purpose to anyone, to better study the disease, to help find a cure, or if my blood helps cure another person, then here I am."
    RESENTMENT = resentimiento
She added that she was "willing to try, even if it means risking my life."

She praised the care she received while there.

     Pharrell Williams "HAPPY"

    MODAL VERBS and CONDITIONAL SENTENCES.

    [Verse 1:]
It might seem crazy what I’m about to say
Sunshine she’s here, you can take a break
I’m a hot air balloon that could go to space
With the air, like I don’t care baby by the way

    [Chorus:]
    Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
    Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
    Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
    Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do

    [Verse 2:]
Here come bad news talking this and that, yeah,
Well, give me all you got, and don’t hold it back, yeah,
Well, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, yeah,
No offense to you, don’t waste your time
    Here’s why

    [Chorus]

    Hey, come on

    [Bridge:]
    (happy)
    Bring me down
    Can't nothing bring me down
    My level's too high
    Bring me down
    Can't nothing bring me down
I said (let me tell you now)
    Bring me down
    Can't nothing bring me down
    My level's too high
    Bring me down
    Can't nothing bring me down
    I said

    [Chorus 2x]

    Hey, come on

    (happy)
    Bring me down… can’t nothing…
    Bring me down… my level's too high…
    Bring me down… can’t nothing…
Bring me down, I said (let me tell you now)

THINGS WE NEED TO LEARN FROM OUR DOGS.

The Advantages of Owning a Dog

There's a reason dogs have long been called a man's best friend. Their loyalty, intelligence, devotion and affection are incredibly rewarding. From taking a long walk together on a beautiful spring morning, being greeted by a happily wagging tail at the end of a long day to relaxing at home in each other's company, owning a dog can raise spirits and engender a sense of wellbeing like almost nothing else.
And of course for all the love you put in, a dog will give you it back tenfold.

REWARDING = gratificante, satisfactorio......... TAIL = cola
GREET = saludar, dar la bienvenida.................. WELLBEING = bienestar
WAG = menear, mover...................................... TENFOLD = multiplicado por diez

Recent studies show that those of us who own a pet are usually healthier and happier in our lives than those who don't - and dog owners are particularly privileged.

Above all, dogs are great fun. They can make you laugh, even if you've had a terrible day, and they're always there for a reassuring hug when you need it. A dog's primary wish in life is to make you, its owner, happy.
    .................
How noble - and cool - is that?
