Happy St, Valentine's Day, everyone!

Each year on February 14th, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” The day of romance we call Valentine’s Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia:

In the beginning, Valentine's Day was associated with romantic couples only but in recent times the festival is seen in much larger perspective. Now, people take opportunity of the day to wish ‘Happy Valentine's Day' to anyone they love be it father, mother, teachers, siblings, friends, co-workers or just anyone special to them. The idea behind this tradition is to celebrate love, get love and give love to everyone around us.

Approximately 150 million ❤ Valentine's Day cards ❤ are exchanged annually, making Valentine's Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas.

Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Each year on February 14th, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” The day of romance we call Valentine’s Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia.

Cupid became a symbol of Valentine's Day due to the fact that he is the Roman
god associated with the erotic, passionate type of love. His arrows cause his targets to fall in love.

Band Aid 30. Do They Know It's Christmas?

Band Aid is a charity supergroup featuring mainly British and Irish musicians and recording artists. It was founded in 1984 byBob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for anti-poverty efforts in Ethiopia by releasing the song "Do They Know It's Christmas?" for the Christmas market that year

Band Aid 30 is the 2014 incarnation of the charity supergroup Band Aid. The group was announced on 10 November 2014 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure, with Geldof stating that he took the step after the United Nations had contacted him, saying help was urgently needed to prevent the 2014 Ebola crisis in Western Africa spreading throughout the world. As in previous incarnations, the group covered the track "Do They Know It's Christmas?", written in 1984 by Geldof and Ure, this time to raise money towards the Ebola crisis in Western Africa.

Fourth Thursday of November: THANKSGIVING DAY.

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November.

HARVEST FEAST = fiesta de la cosecha
    ACKNOWLEDGED = reconocido, declarado

    Are you romantic?

St Valentine's Day  is about.... The way you make me feel (Michael Jackson)

Authors, poets and playwrights (=dramaturgo)  have been trying to capture love in words for thousands of years.   Check out this collection of quotes (=citas)  about love from some of the world's most famous romantics

Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.
    - Aristotle

Age does not protect you from love. But love, to some extent, protects you from age.
    - Anais Nin

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.
    -Helen Keller

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way than this
    - Pablo Neruda, "Love Sonnet XVII"

Cupid, Roman God of Love, is perhaps the most famous of all Valentine symbols, As the son of Venus, he is often depicted as a mischievous (=travieso), winged (=alado) child whose arrows  (=flechas) pierce the hearts of his victims, causing them to fall in love. Cupid is derived from the Latin word cupido, which means "desire." His Greek counterpart is Eros (from whom comes the word "erotic"),

Even Cupido has problems with taxes...

And... just in case you have not seen it yet, this is the most famous wedding entrance EVER!

    Romantic? Cheerful? Different?... HAPPY!
